What they have to sacrifice, what conflicts arise and how they manage them, how they balance different commitments and when they find time to do it all. Inspired by Corey Rich's "WHY" (vimeo.com a short film documenting the motivation and drive of three top level athletes in kayaking, climbing, and mountain biking who push the boundaries of the sport whilst remaining inspirational, down to earth and becoming true role models, 'When' explores the other side of the coin. I wanted to document 'when' three people with extensive job and family commitments find the time to put significant time and effort into a sport; balancing training, with getting out and enjoying the sport itself, and with work/family/other commitments. Finding out what they sacrifice and when they find time to fit a training schedule into an already full life/work schedule. Truly every-day role models. I wanted to take the 'other side of the coin' idea further. Whilst WHY documented the extradordinary capabilities of the incredible Nikon D4, 'When' was filmed entirely on Nikon's ultra-capable entry level DSLR models (a D3200 and a D5100) and hopefully <b>...</b>

Nikon D3200 Video Test

A test of the Nikon D3200 video capabilities. I had borrowed this camera and had not read the manual, but within about 3 minutes I was enjoying the functions and learning to focus. The camera shoots nice 1080p in quicktime. Clarity and color are good. I was using the stock telephoto lens that comes with the package when you purchase. I edited this in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. You'll need a windscreen and separate microphone to shoot much if the wind is up. It was probably 8-10 mph as I shot this video. My verdict is that this is pretty nice video. See what you think.

Nikon D3200 Video Trial

I had nothing to do and it was dark out so I decided to take some low light test clips using my Takumar 50 1.4. I really enjoy using this lens but it's hard to focus, hold the camera, and shift with only two hands. I did a little color correction and curves but the video is indicative of how you'll see it from the camera. I shot this on my T2i using an adapter bought on ebay.
