The first week of October I had the opportunity to travel to north Alabama and interview, film, and just hang out with some amazing musicians. The Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention is held every year on the first full weekend of October on the campus of Athens State University in Athens Alabama, and the event really has two sides; one is the competitions that take place over the two days, but then the other is the unscripted jam sessions that form up all over the campus. I've been several years, but never shot any video of the festival, this year however my cousin Michael Williams and his friends Houston Barbee, Andrew Walker, Cliff Bailey, and Brandon Bounds entered the Bluegrass Band category. I had nothing to do and it was dark out so I decided to take some low light test clips using my Takumar 50 1.4. I really enjoy using this lens but it's hard to focus, hold the camera, and shift with only two hands. I did a little color correction and curves but the video is indicative of how you'll see it from the camera. I shot this on my T2i using an adapter bought on ebay. Testing video of my latest Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM on Nikon D3100 at 1080/24p. Performed well at Autofocus. Colors were crisp with some fine exposure. Tweaked the raw footage in AE CS5 with curves.
